30 years later, J\u00falio Pereira returns to the instrument that has become synonimous with his image as a composer and musician who has definetely left a mark on the paths of Portuguese popular music \u2013 the cavaquinho.<\/p>\n

This time, the songs were written by J\u00falio Pereira, who has invited some singers who usually work with him: Ux\u00eda, Sara Tavares, Luanda Cozetti.<\/p>\n

But this isn’t merely a return to what already was the updating of a traditional instrument, rather a new step on the history of the small cordophone that left Minho province to travel to all continents and is now a protagonist of music from all over the world.<\/p>\n

Besides being an autonomous and self-sufficient product of musical creation, CAVAQUINHO.PT included a book about the times, ways and places<\/strong> where the small instrument revealed itself.<\/p>\n

But this release is directly connected to other highly important initiatives we will be talking about next.<\/p>\n

The main goal of the website is to show the Portuguese and the world the universe of the cavaquinho in Mainland Portugal and Madeira\u00a0 <\/span>\u2013 where we will find over 120 different types of cavaquinhos, their builders and their players.<\/p>\n

But this is also the place to find a community that amounts to 200 million people, including the several cavaquinhos all across the world: the Continental Cavaquinho, the Braguinha in Madeira, the Cape Vert Cavaquinho, the Brazil Cavaquinho, the Ukulele in the United States of America and the Keroncong in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
